Hello everyone,
I am reading lots of stuff about getting banned and I wanted to share my thoughts with you guys. If you are to lazy to read this right now and maybe got here by google: Please skip to the bottom.
I think Blizzard can find people who use bots with ease. They do not even have to scan any games or analyze play times. I think it might be possible for them to just download the bot themselve, analyze its process and integrate a routine in theire games to look for that specific process. There are many other ways to do similar things.
So whats the point of this Thread? To tell you its really easy for Blizzard to ban you? Well yes, kind of.
But here is the Soloution:
Spent some real money! The only thing Blizzard wants is money. The only reason why they ban botters is because players who do not use bots want them to because otherwise they would hate blizzard for letting people use bots and would not play the game (and pay money) themselves. But Blizzard isnt stuipid: It is enough to ban people who bot without paying any money to them so all the other players think Blizzard is banning all the botters, but actually they are just banning the ones who dont pay any money at all, or (maybe) stop paying money. I am pretty sure they have some simple algorithms to calculate weather a cheater/botter generates profit over time or not. This is also why people can use absolutely obvious bots like Honorbuddy in WoW. Blizzard does not want to bann somone who is funding them, but they have to if other (paying) players report them. In Hearthstone botting is by far not that obvious and a reporting player will never now if the player he reported actually gets punished.
This is why things like http://ift.tt/1EXf7gJ happen.
Maybe we can gather some more data about this to prove my point, so I go first:
When did you start using the bot?: About 3 months ago
Did you use any other bots or similar software that is violating the ToU before?: Yes
What is your schedule for using the bot?: On average 8 hours per day (Goldcap + daily quests)
How do you use the bot? (should be irrelevant if my theory ís correct, otherwise this information can be used to at least weaken it (not enough to disproof it))
How much money do you spent?: Total: ca. 120 My Rule: Buy largest possible amount of new stuff everytime something new is released (40 classic packs, Naxx, 60 GvG packs)
Did you recieve any warnings?: Never
Did you get banned?: No
Btw: I am a german physicist with a lot of programming experience and general computer knowledge. I actually enjoy doing all the math (eg. how to spend gold to get most new cards, what does it take to get a full collection, etc.) more then actually playing the game (I am a really bad player).
Some final thoughts:
I do understand that the reason most people use bots in "F2P" games for is because they do not want to spent money. But which case does hurt more: Spending some money (my goal is to find out whats the minimum) or loosing an account you may or may not have invested houndreds of hours of your lifetime in. And I think there are many hoplessly adicted people that actually spent some (ridicolously..) high amounts of money in the game (just like me, be careful not to get hit by the sarcasm train) but still do not want to spent all the money needed to get a full collection (which should be at least 600 if you get lucky according to my current data).
And here is my tip for people who want to stop using the bot and may ask themselve when it is save again to buy some packs. Well I think you allready now my answer: Now of course! Sacrifice some money for the Blizzard god to settle his fury.
Bottom
I want to find out whether my theory matches the observation or not. And if so I even want to reverse engineer blizzards dicision algorithm to be able to make predictions on how much money you have to spend to be safe. But what I need to reach this goal is data, lots of lots of data. So if you are reading this: Please send me all the information you got and check back here for the results. You can reply to this post or even (if you came here from google and you do not want to create an account) send me a mail to send.me.ban.data@gmail.com. To make thinks a little bit easier for me please use the interview strucutre above, you can shorten it a little if you want to.

- Auto-Concede: No. I think it is pointless, who cares if my winrate is 60% or 90%, it would be enough to win >0% of all games.
- Game mode: Mostly Ranked and Casual, sometimes arena
- Which decks do you use?: The same ones I play with on my own or sometimes even worse for getting the quests done (again: I dont care about winrates because its not my time thats wasted).
